James represents private equity funds, private credit funds, venture capital funds, venture debt funds, companies and entrepreneurs in arranging financings across the capital structure, from debt to equity as well as hybrid instruments in between, including structured and esoteric asset-based financings. His practice encompasses the entire lifecycle of a company, from early-stage and growth financings to leveraged acquisitions to restructurings and work-outs.

Prior to joining Legal Scale, James previously worked at leading law firms such as Cleary Gottlieb and Willkie Farr & Gallagher. He received his J.D. from Columbia Law School and B.A. from Queen’s University at Kingston and is admitted to the bar in New York.
