James Cheng is an associate at Legal Scale. His practice primarily focuses on representing private equity funds, private credit funds, venture capital funds, venture debt funds, emerging growth companies and entrepreneurs in arranging financings across the capital structure, from debt to equity and hybrid instruments in between, which also include structured and esoteric asset-based financings.

James’s practice encompasses the entire lifecycle of a company, from early-stage and growth financings to leveraged acquisitions to restructurings and work-outs.

Prior to joining Legal Scale, he was an associate at leading law firms, such as Clearly Gottlieb and Willkie Farr & Gallagher. James received his J.D. from Columbia Law School and B.A. from Queen’s University at Kingston. He is admitted to the bar in New York.
